Our E-mail Newsletter
Let me say something here, and if it were not so, I simply would not say it. I get a lot of email magazines if you will, e-zines and such, and a lot of email newsletters. And I subscribe to Downsizer-Dispatch, which folks can do by going to Downsize DC dot O R G. You guys put out more information — better information — more regularly than anybody else. In fact, I dare say, that Downsize DC is working harder than any other group that I subscribe to for their information — for their releases and such. It's a constant barrage of _extremely_ important information and I encourage my radio audience to go to the website and sign up for the Downsizer-Dispatch.

Privacy Policy

July 14, 2008
Version 1.0

The following statement explains our policy regarding the personal information we collect about you.

1. Introduction

2. General use and storage of your information

3. Extraordinary use of your information

4. Access to your personal information

5. User's Age and Email Requirements

1. Introduction

This policy covers DownsizeDC.org's use of personal information that DownsizeDC.org collects when you use www.DownsizeDC.org.

From time to time, you will be asked to submit personal information about yourself (including name, address, phone number, and email address) in order to receive or use services on our website. Such services could include, but are not necessarily limited to, newsletters, chats, message boards, and the DC Downsizer Congressional Educational System registration.

By entering your details in the fields requested, you enable DownsizeDC.org and its service providers to provide you with the services you select. Whenever you provide such personal information, we will treat that information in accordance with this policy. When using your personal information, DownsizeDC.org will act in accordance with current law and aim to meet current Internet best practices.

2. General use and storage of your personal information

When you supply any personal information to www.DownsizeDC.org, we have legal obligations towards you in the way we use those data. We pledge to collect the information fairly; that is, we will strive to explain how we will use it (see the notices on particular web pages that let you know why we are requesting the information) and tell you if we want to pass the information on to anyone else.

In general, any information you provide to DownsizeDC.org will only be used within DownsizeDC.org and by its agents and service providers. Your information otherwise will be disclosed only where we are obliged by law.

If you post or send offensive, inappropriate or objectionable content anywhere on or to DownsizeDC.org or otherwise engage in any disruptive behavior on or with DownsizeDC.org, then DownsizeDC.org can use whatever information that is available to it about you to stop such behavior. This may involve informing relevant third parties, such as your employer, school e-mail/Internet provider, and even law enforcement agencies about your behavior.

We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been met, or, in the case of the DC Downsizer Educate the Powerful System registration, when you no longer wish to continue your registration and have informed us of your desire to be removed. For safety reasons, however, DownsizeDC.org reserves the right to store messaging transcript data (including message content, member names, times and dates) arising from the use of DownsizeDC.org services.

3. Extraordinary use of your information

3. The Downsize DC Foundation is a “partner” with DownsizeDC.org, Inc., sharing various capacities and lists. Therefore, DownsizeDC.org, Inc. will never sell or loan your Educate the Powerful System registration information to any individual, campaign, group, or corporation other than its sister group, the Downsize DC Foundation. And under no circumstances will DownsizeDC.org, Inc. rent, sell, loan, or share your email address or your phone number, except with the Downsize DC Foundation.

DownsizeDC.org, Inc. DOES, occasionally, rent or trade DONOR information, but only the name and address. When you make your online donation to DownsizeDC.org, Inc., you will be offered an option of privacy. We hope you won't choose this level of privacy, as DownsizeDC.org, Inc. is committed, as part of its mission, to help other worthy, like-minded organizations, expand their base and increase their effectiveness through renting our list. Further, DownsizeDC.org, Inc. profits financially from the exchange, providing additional resources to further the Downsize DC mission.

On occasion, DownsizeDC.org also offers a donor premium where, for a minimal donation, you can have your name published publicly (i.e., on the website). When such a premium is offered, an opt-out will always be offered, so that you can also choose to protect your privacy as you make a generous contribution.

4. Access to your personal information

You have the right to request a copy of the personal information DownsizeDC.org holds about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected. (We charge $10 for information requests.) Please address requests to the Data Administrator, DownsizeDC.org, Inc., 1931 15th St. Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44223
(Email: webmaster@downsizedc.org).

5. User's Age and Email Requirements

If you are under the age of 18, please get your parent/guardian's permission beforehand whenever you provide personal information to www.DownsizeDC.org. Users without this consent are absolutely not allowed to provide us with personal information.

One user per email address. www.DownsizeDC.org cannot provide multiple registrations for a single address. Each user should register with his or her own email address.
